Original Porsche 992 rims: Sports car icon, the eighth.
The eighth generation of the famous marvel from Zuffenhausen followed in 2019 with the 992. No matter if Coupé or Cabrio; no matter if Carrera or Turbo S - the 911 is one of the best in class in every compartment... and apparently with ease. Wider, more modern, faster - these were the guiding ideas behind the new edition of the sports car classic, but of course without renouncing beloved genes from Zuffenhausen.
So the 992 became 45mm wider than the predecessor. This increase is due to the hip of a new model strategy. One does not want to differentiate any more, now it is equal rights for all - also the Carrera gets the four-wheel drive body. Modernisation was also a major focus, the key word being connectivity. With the new 992, infotainment PCM has entered the series, familiar from the Panamera and Cayenne, and brings numerous practical innovations designed to make everyday life easier. On a touchscreen now measuring 10.9 cm in size, the system combines the intuitive operation of a wide range of assistance systems, such as Night View Assist or Lane Keeping Assist, but also Distance Assist with Stop and Go function, or Parking Assist with rear-view camera, to make everyday life immensely easier. The 992 has become faster in several respects. On the one hand, the familiar three-litre turbo-boxer engine has been revised and offers 15 hp more than its predecessor in the basic version. But the 992 also makes good time in bends. A new wheel tyre combination of 20 and 21 inch wheels, known from the GT3 RS, established itself in the development. This combination combines tight steering response with a smooth running rear axle. In cooperation with the optional rear steering and the chassis geometry, which is newly adapted to exactly this wheel combination, the handling of the 992 was revolutionized. The newly developed adaptive dampers perform an impressive balancing act between uncompromising sportiness and comfortable damping - i.e. more comfort with even more sportiness.
Porsche 992 - wider, more modern, faster
The three-litre turbo-boxer engine, known from its predecessor 991.2, has also been revised and now delivers 385 hp in the basic version instead of the previous 370 hp. The engine of the Carrera S / 4S can boast a further 65 hp increase in output, delivering 450 hp with 530 Nm. Thanks to the standard Porsche PDK dual-clutch transmission, 4.2 seconds are sufficient for a sprint at country road speed, while the eighth generation now needs just under 13 seconds from a standstill to reach a cruising speed of 200 km/h. With the Turbo-S models presented in March 2020, Porsche is raising the bar even higher in terms of performance and acceleration values. Those who opt for a 992 Turbo S have 650 bhp and 850 Nm at their disposal at all times. Thanks to tyres in the size 255/35 ZR20 at the front and 315/30 ZR21 at the rear, the 992 Turbo S also brings these performance values to the road, which can quickly show an inexperienced driver its limits. But the demands on the components used are even higher, whether the drive train or chassis, every component goes through a targeted and uncompromising development and testing phase, including the wheels. Therefore, especially in the segment of high-performance vehicles, you should always drive on a flawless tire, in summer as well as in winter. Benefit from our many years of experience in dealing with high-performance tyres and always be safe and feel good on the road. Original wheels offer considerable advantages in almost all relevant points. So you can be sure to ride on tested and approved wheels that will meet your requirements in every case.
